Who is William Thomas Photography?
We’re your camera-slinging best friends. We love what we do, and would love to be a part of your celebration.
Billy (that’s me) + Maggie are our lead photographers & photo editors. We will be your point person while you plan your wedding, elopement or photo session, and are always available to offer our expertise, or just to recommend the best vegan taco recipes and send cat gifs. Consider us your friend/personal ninja/Mary Poppins and go-to magician on the the wedding day. We are there for you every moment while designing your family heirlooms.
Mike is our lead film editor and will be your point person while editing your wedding film.
We work with a small family of 2nd photographers and cinematographers who will round out the league of extraordinary artists. We study, train and work seamlessly as a team to make a cohesive experience for you and your guests.

What can I expect after booking?
Dope customer service and a stress free wedding day. Seriously.
We’re here to help. Communication is key. You can email, text, or call anytime if you need advice with planning your wedding day and photo sessions.
A month before your wedding or elopement, we’ll send you a brief questionnaire and schedule a call or video chat to walk through the day together.
How far in advance should I book you?
Many couples book us for their wedding or elopement months or years in advance. However, we often have short-term availability (particularly on weekdays). Drop us a line to see if we’re free for your celebration!
When can I expect my super awesome photos?
You’ll receive your private gallery via winged unicorn (haha, actually through a private link) within 3-4 weeks after your wedding/engagement session/portrait session.
Can I download and print my photos?
Absolutely! Your photos will be fully edited, downloadable in hi-res jpeg files to share and print (individually, or a .zip file of the whole gallery). We never watermark your photos and you can download a print release from your client portal if your lab requests one. We also offer the option to purchase prints from our lab directly from your online gallery.
How many photographs should I expect?
Every wedding is its own unique snowflake, but we typically deliver 1000+ images for weddings, 300+ images for your elopements and 100+ for engagement sessions.
Do I need an engagement session?
All of our wedding collections include a complimentary NYC engagement photo session, and we include a 50% discount if you’d like to add an engagement session to your elopement or intimate wedding coverage. Engagement photo sessions are a fun, relaxed way to get to know each other (and for you to warm up to the camera) before your celebration. It’s also an opportunity to make creative photos without the time restraints and other considerations of a typical wedding day.
They’re definitely not mandatory, though. My team and I have met many of our couples for the first time on their wedding day. We’ll become instant besties in either scenario.
Are you insured?
You betcha! Even our cats are insured! We’re happy to send a Certificate of Insurance to your venue upon request.
What happens in case of emergency?
We know that your wedding is the most important day in the world to you and we wouldn’t miss it for anything. We take painstaking care of ourselves (our equipment and vehicles too!) to make sure we don’t miss any events. In over a decade as a wedding photographer we haven’t missed a single event. If there’s an emergency and one of us can’t make it, don’t worry, we’ll make sure a fully staffed, amazing team is still with you on your wedding day. We are also proud members of Fearless Photographers, WPPI, and the Hustle+Flow community which have deep local networks of amazing photographers and cinematographers to contact as a third line of defense.
No matter what, you will be taken care of.
Travel? Destination weddings?
We will travel everywhere! We’re based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and love to roam. There’s no additional fee for destination weddings. We simply ask you to cover flights and accommodations.
What inspires you?
Just about everything! My amazing client-besties (that’s you!) are the biggest source of inspiration because much of the work I produce is a reflection of your love, personalities and personal style. No two weddings are alike, and that’s the coolest thing ever.
My incredible partner, Emily, and our fur-family of rescued cats are my inspiration to be the best version of myself every day.
Visually, I take inspiration from classic and modern art (you can find us at The Met on a regular basis) and also cinema in a huge way. I’d like to think Stanley Kubrick and Quentin Tarantino (and the the talented DPs who brought their visions to screen) are as much an influence in my work as Irving Penn and Elliott Erwitt.
Our whole team shares similar creative inspiration.
How many weddings have you photographed?
Over 500 and counting. Every single one was awesome.
What’s your approach?
We approach each photography experience with an open mind, open heart, sympathetic attitude and emotionally engaged soul.
We’re there for you to lean on throughout your celebration. Pinning boutonnieres, sewing buttons, band-aiding blistered heels and smiling all day long.
Our head’s always on a swivel to catch mom crying or dad doing a backflip on the dance floor.
Our role and level of interaction ebbs and flows throughout your celebration. We can play the role that we need to play, reading each moment’s pulse. We’ll be editorial photographer, portrait artist, macro photographer, film director and more while always staying engaged with our primary role as photojournalist.
We’ll give clear, friendly direction or fade into the wallpaper when needed. Expect lots of high-fives and hugs (unless you’re not the touchy-feely type — that’s cool too).
What’s your editing style?
I edit with my heart. Some images exist to tell a story. Others stand alone as an awesome piece of art for your home (and Instagram bragging rights — let’s make your friends jealous!).
It starts with culling the perfect selection of images to tell your wedding story. I spare you the eyes-half-shut expressions and the many images of my feet clicked by accident while pretending I know how to dance. Possibly on a table.
From there, I process your photographs one-by-one to bring out their full potential. I almost always have the end-result in mind as I capture photos, so editing is a rewarding process where I can bring this vision to life.
I prefer muted tones and tactile, matte film-like color palettes with some grainy black-and-white mixed in for drama. Our photography and editing is always evolving.
The very best way to see my editing style is to take a look at my portfolio.
